Red Deer (4) vs. Airdrie (3)
RED DEER – Kayson Gallant had a three-point night as the Red Deer Vipers edged the Airdrie Thunder by a 4-3 score on Sunday.
Gallant finished with a goal and two helpers, while teammate Dalton Angeltvedt added a goal and assist.
Mack Differenz and Austin Thorne each chipped in with a single to round out the scoring for Red Deer (9-4-1), which went three-for-seven on the man-advantage.
Dante Raposo, Jason Wenzel and Zachary Giroux had the goals for the Thunder (10-4-2).
The Vipers got 27 saves from goaltender Branden Bilodeau, who picked up his fifth win of the season between the pipes.
C.J. Wedenig turned aside 35 shots in a losing effort for Airdrie.
Ponoka (4) vs. Coaldale (2)
COALDALE – Taylor McLaughlin turned aside 28 shots to lift the Ponoka Stampeders to a 4-2 win over the Coaldale Copperheads on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, Kayden Gatz opened the scoring 8:31 into the middle stanza and the Stampeders (2-9-2) would lead the rest of the way.
Jacob Sayler, Braden Klessens and Brandon Brokerville rounded out the attack for the Stampeders, which turned in an 18-shot second period.
Logan Middleton and Tyler Anderson scored exactly one minute apart in the later stages of the third period to pull the Copperheads (9-7-0) to within one.
Andrew Suriano stopped 28-of-32 shots fired his way in the Coaldale crease.
Strathmore (3) vs. Mountainview (1)
STRATHMORE – A power-play goal in the second period off the stick of Matt Thomson proved to be the difference as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings skated to their sixth straight victory, defeating the Mountainview Colts by a 3-1 score on Sunday evening.
George Montour and Garrett Vander Ploeg also contributed to the Strathmore (9-4-1) offence, each finding the back of the net once, while goaltender Indiana Kelly picked up his eighth win of the season between the pipes, stopping all but one of the 26 shots he faced.
Reis Money turned aside 35-of-38 shots fired his way in the Mountainview (8-5-3), while Caden Switzer scored the lone goal of the game for the Colts.
